If you know me, you know that hockey is more than just a game, it’s my passion, my drive, and now, my purpose.
From idea to global gamechanger
Yes, that’s 15-year-old me back in 2014, alongside two girls I was coaching at the time. The same support I felt on the field back then is what pushed me to turn my passion into solving a problem every hockey player faces: traditional grips wear out too fast, lack comfort and are frustratingly difficult to replace.
I kept asking myself, ‘’Why doesn’t the perfect hockey grip exist?’’ And that’s where my journey began.
In February 2021 I founded RIBBON Sportgrip and started my journey to create the perfect hockey grip.
After countless prototypes and testing, the Cork hockey grip was finally born. A durable hockey grip with incorporated Cork flakes, giving hockey players a natural and comfortable feeling.
And yes, I shot the product pictures myself in this tiny, makeshift studio setup 😅
Luckily, soon after this disaster, I got professional help of a photographer 📸
I went all in, investing every bit of my savings to bring RIBBON to life. With 2000 Cork grips in hand, the journey began.
And before I knew it… they were sold out!!!
In less than a year, over 5000 hockey players were using the RIBBON Cork grips, and their feedback was incredible. It was clear, RIBBON was solving a real problem, giving players the comfort and control they had been missing.
The feedback was incredible, players loved the comfort of the Cork grips. But one challenge remained: applying them.
So, we took things a step further and developed the Sleeve, the most innovative grip solution in hockey. Unlike traditional grips, the Sleeve shrinks tightly around your stick when heated, ensuring a perfect, seamless fit in seconds.
A true game-changer for gripping your stick!
After launching the black Sleeve, we received lots of requests for more color options. We listened closely to our customers and in 2024, we introduced two of their most-wanted colors: a bright white 🤍 and a shiny pink 🩷 Sleeve.
Tens of thousands of hockey players around the world are already playing with a RIBBON Sportgrip. From The Netherlands to the UK, Australia, Belgium, Chile, Argentina, and beyond. But this is just the beginning.
